Plantaže Crnogorski Vranac 2005

Variety: Vranac
Country of origin: Croatia
Wine appellation: Montenegro
Vintage: 2005
Alcohol content: 12.5%
Color: medium garnet red
Bouquet: feels tannic, small red berries, large barrel
Taste: medium body, wild sour cherries, hint of smoke, almost like sausages, higher acidity, higher slightly harsher tannins, medium to longer finish
Recommended food pairing: sausages, smoked meat
Overall score: 4+6+10+6+6=82
Price: CZK 150 (in 2007)
Stopper: cork
Quite specific animal. Definitely European, not New world style due to higher tannins and acidity. It has specific meaty and smoky nose. I thought the wine would be at the peak of bottle maturity and it seems like there is still quite a lot to go to soften up, if it would at all:-)
