Viña Tarapacá Chardonnay 2004

Variety: Chardonnay
Country of origin: Chile
Wine appellation: Maipo Valley
Vintage: 2004
Alcohol content: 13%
Color: straw yellow
Bouquet: dry fruits with honey wine (medovina) and bottle aged tones
Taste: medium body, nicely round, dominant dry fruit, such as pineapple and apple, followed by surprisingly good lime acidity, which keeps it fresh, medium finish
Recommended food pairing: pork
Overall score: 83
Price: CZK 199 in 2006
Stopper: cork
For me this was quite nice surprise as When I found this bottle in the cellar I expected the wine to be oxidated. But this was and not at all the case, the cork was soaked to 1/4 only only even though it laid down for 6 years. Color was surprisingly not golden, but nicely straw yellow and taste had apart from typical tropical fruit tones, this time in dry version also very good acidity and at the same time roundness.
